Nuremberg Documentation Center opens new Nazi Party Rally exhibition

The Nuremberg Documentation Center has officially opened a new exhibition dedicated to the former site of the Nazi Party Rallies. Following a five-year redesign and a trial period that began in May, the exhibition covers 1,600 square meters and features hundreds of exhibits and interactive elements.

The display explores how Nuremberg became the city of the Nazi Party Rallies between 1933 and 1938, an era when approximately one million people attended parades and rallies held across the eleven-square-kilometer area. While much of the site remained a construction zone, the Zeppelinfeld and the main grandstand were completed and remain standing today.

Curators emphasized a respectful approach to historical artifacts, noting that items such as Nazi flags were folded rather than displayed as devotional objects. As living witnesses to this era diminish, the exhibition focuses on the significance of the physical structures and objects, such as spotlights from the Zeppelin grandstand, to educate the roughly 300,000 annual visitors who come to the site to learn about the Nazi past.
