Ludwigshafen school faces state-led restructuring amid safety concerns

The German state government of Rheinland-Pfalz has announced a major restructuring of the Karolina-Burger-Realschule plus in Ludwigshafen. Education Minister Ute Eiling-Hütig stated that the school's ongoing issues, which have led to its reputation as 'Germany's most dangerous school,' cannot be resolved within existing structures and require a state-led restart. The institution has faced repeated disturbances, including police interventions, a knife attack on a teacher in May 2025, and recent incidents involving physical fights and fire alarms.

In other regional news, several police incidents were reported across Germany and Austria. In Freising, a 27-year-old motorcyclist was caught driving at 130 km/h while under the influence of cocaine and THC. In Bad Kreuznach, a 23-year-old E-scooter rider was pursued by police on a borrowed E-bike after attempting to evade a traffic stop. In Vienna, an unlicensed taxi driver was detained after a collision left a controller on the vehicle's hood. Additionally, a 31-year-old man in Schweinfurt was arrested for allegedly harassing two children in a shop.
