Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra celebrates 80th anniversary

Approximately 85,000 people attended the ‘Klassik Open Air Nürnberg’ in the Luitpoldhain park to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra. Under the direction of chief conductor Jonathan Darlington, the concert followed the theme ‘Rhythm of the World.’

The program featured works with Latin American influences, including George Gershwin’s ‘Cuban Overture,’ Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Mambo’ from ‘West Side Story,’ and Heitor Villa-Lobos’ ‘Bachianas Brasileiras.’ Trumpet soloist Pacho Flores performed his composition ‘Morocota.’ Other notable pieces included Paul Dukas’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ and Johann Strauss’ ‘Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka.’
