Nuremberg to begin Schocken-Carré construction in 2026

Construction of the Schocken-Carré residential complex is scheduled to begin in the autumn of 2026 at Aufseßplatz in Nuremberg's southern district. The project aims to replace a long-standing construction pit that had become a local point of ridicule, often referred to by residents and online users as ‘Lago di Aufseß’ due to accumulated rainwater.

The development will cover approximately 7,000 square meters and feature seven-story buildings with a total gross floor area of about 43,000 square meters. The project will provide 200 rental apartments, 126 of which are designated as subsidized housing.

According to Construction Mayor Dr. Nasser Ahmed, the completion of the complex is targeted for 2029. While Siedlungswerk Nürnberg has exited the project, BayernHeim has confirmed its commitment to the development.
