Nuremberg Underworlds rank fifth in TUI underground attraction survey
The “Nuremberg Underworlds” have achieved a high ranking in a survey by the tourism company TUI regarding the most popular underground attractions in Germany. The city secured fifth place nationally.
The ranking placed the Old Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg in first place, followed by the Berlin Underworlds, the German Mining Museum in Bochum, and the rock cellar of Weltenburg Abbey.
The non-profit association “Nuremberg Felsengänge” works to preserve and open these historical underground sites. Available tours include the dungeon cells beneath the town hall, defensive passages under the castle, an atomic bunker at the main station, and medieval water tunnels.
