Nuremberg‑Regensburg railway renovation delayed to July 2026
The general renovation of the railway line between Nuremberg and Regensburg will not reopen on the originally planned date of 10 July 2026. Deutsche Bahn announced that the line will now be back in service on 31 July 2026 because the safety‑technical approval of the new signalling and control system is still pending. Passenger advocate group PRO BAHN says the delay reflects a systemic problem with the acceptance testing of new interlocking technology and calls for an independent, multi‑source inspection capacity.
To maintain traffic during the construction, replacement bus stops have been established at the former Laaber Marktplatz station and at Hademarweg 1, with speed limits of 30‑50 km/h enforced on the affected state road sections. The original stop at the market square is closed and marked with a notice directing passengers to the new temporary locations.
