Nurjahan Noorali Jamani wins silver and bronze in Finland

Indian para table tennis player Nurjahan Noorali Jamani secured two medals at the ITTF World Para Future Lahti 2026 in Finland. She earned a silver medal in the Class 7 singles competition and a bronze medal in the Class 7 standing doubles alongside teammate Shivam Pal.

In the singles category, Nurjahan recovered from an initial loss to Germany’s Birgit Baumgartner, defeating Iceland’s Agnes Lovisa Johannsdottir before overcoming Macau’s U Choi Hong in a 3-2 match to claim silver. In the standing doubles event, the Indian pair secured bronze after a strong opening victory against a Finnish and Icelandic duo.

This performance has resulted in a significant rise in the world rankings, with Nurjahan moving from No. 27 to No. 19. Having returned to competitive play in 2022 after a long hiatus, she has now consolidated her position as India’s top player in her category.
