Nurse accused of killing parents dies by suicide in India

Nakka Surekha, a 25-year-old nurse accused of murdering her parents in January, died by suicide in the Sangareddy district. Surekha had been released on bail on July 31 following her arrest for the deaths of her mother, Nakka Lakshmi, and her father, Nakka Dashrath.

According to police, the murders occurred after her parents opposed her marriage to a man she met on Instagram. Investigators stated that Surekha administered high doses of sedative injections to her parents, claiming they were for pain relief or fatigue, which resulted in their deaths in their sleep.

Surekha allegedly died by self-administering a similar intoxicating injection. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of her death and reviewing a suicide note she left behind. A case of suspicious death has been booked under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
