Nurse Maude workers to strike over pay and sick leave

Approximately 285 members of the Public Service Association (PSA) at Nurse Maude are scheduled to strike on Monday, August 10. The industrial action follows a previous strike on July 31 and is driven by disputes over pay offers and the proposed removal of two days of sick leave.

The strike includes care and support workers, as well as roughly 35 employees from Nurse Maude’s Care Coordination Centres (CareCo) in the Wellington region. PSA National Secretary Fleur Fitzsimons stated that current pay offers, such as 2% for Care Managers and 2.5% for administrative staff, constitute an effective pay cut when adjusted for inflation.
