Nurse saves woman from cardiac arrest at swimming pool

Jung Eun-ah, a nurse at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital's Regional Emergency Medical Center, saved a woman's life after she suffered a cardiac arrest at the Uiwang National Sports Center.

On August 14, a woman in her 50s lost consciousness while swimming. While a swimming instructor and lifeguards had already begun initial efforts, Jung, who was waiting for a class, intervened to provide advanced emergency care. Utilizing her clinical experience, she performed chest compressions for approximately seven minutes, managed the patient's airway to prevent aspiration during vomiting, and correctly operated a defibrillator.

Following the intervention, emergency services arrived and the patient was transported to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital. The patient has since recovered and been discharged. The patient and her family visited the hospital on August 19 to express their gratitude to Jung for her decisive actions.
