Nurse under investigation for suspected deaths of elderly care home residents

A 26-year-old nurse, identified as Jelle D., is under investigation for his suspected involvement in the deaths of elderly residents at a care facility. Authorities have expanded the investigation, which now includes a second elderly resident's death.

In a related development, the body of an 88-year-old resident from the 't Wedervoort care home in Wierden was exhumed last week at the request of relatives seeking clarity on the cause of death. This case has been added to the ongoing judicial dossier, codenamed ‘Harpij’. The suspect faces allegations of four counts of attempted murder involving the unnecessary administration of insulin.

The suspect's pretrial detention has been extended by two weeks by a judge in Den Bosch. While the investigation continues, authorities are also examining the psychological state of the nurse.
