Nursing academics expand international research and leadership roles

Academic and research initiatives in nursing are expanding through international appointments and inter-institutional collaborations in Mexico.

Adriana Eréndira Vega García, a professor at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx), has become the first Mexican to join the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Education Expert Advisory Committee. Based in Geneva, the ICN committee includes specialists from WHO regions to develop global nursing education strategies and policies.

Simultaneously, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) Faculty of Nursing is hosting various research stays. These include master's students from Puebla and Tamaulipas focusing on adolescent menstrual health and sexual behavior. Additionally, through the Delfín Program, UABC is hosting international students from Colombia to conduct research on public health topics, such as the experiences of migrant women during pregnancy and communication strategies for elderly individuals with hearing disabilities.
