Nursing associations in Venezuela present crisis mitigation proposals

Representatives from the Caracas Nursing College met with Deputy Dinorah Figuera to present a rescue plan for Venezuela’s healthcare system. The group, led by President Ana Rosario Contreras, reported a critical deterioration of medical centers and a severe lack of supplies, particularly in rural and productive sectors.

Contreras emphasized that resolving the health emergency requires restoring democratic institutions and ensuring transparent presidential elections. The nursing guild noted that the collapse of infrastructure and lack of resources have driven significant migration among healthcare professionals.

In response, Figuera highlighted the need for increased national budget investment to repair hospital infrastructure and create incentives to encourage medical and nursing staff to return to the country. The parliamentary representation committed to raising demands for dignified wages to international bodies.
