Nursing profession highlighted through documentary series and social media
A ZDF documentary titled “Start auf Station: Die jungen Pflegerinnen” follows four newly qualified nurses, including 24-year-old Emilia, at the Charité hospital in Berlin. The series captures the emotional challenges of the profession, such as Emilia's experience accompanying a critically ill patient through death during a night shift. Despite the psychological pressure and the necessity to continue working immediately after such events, Emilia expressed satisfaction with her career choice.
In a separate initiative, Caritas has launched a social media documentary series called “t:ckt” to provide an unfiltered look at nursing. The series consists of 24 one-minute videos released on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, documenting 24 hours of nursing life. Caritas Director Klaus Schwertner stated that the project aims to move beyond discussions of labor shortages and work pressure to show the profession as a calling characterized by competence and responsibility.
