Nursing professionals in Santa Catarina report high rates of violence

A survey conducted by the Regional Nursing Council of Santa Catarina (Coren-SC) with over 2,200 professionals reveals that 74.8% of nurses in the state have experienced some form of violence while practicing their profession.

The data, released on August 17, 2026, highlights a concerning environment where 57.8% of respondents reported not feeling safe in their workplace. Among those who experienced violence, 96.6% reported psychological or moral abuse. Physical violence was reported by 18.6% of victims, while 7.3% reported sexual violence. Other reported incidents included racism, racial injury, and xenophobia.
