Nursing students in Reconquista launch water emergency prevention project

First-year nursing students from the Escuela Superior de Enfermería de Reconquista launched the community extension project ‘Guardianes del Agua: prevenir hoy para cuidarnos mañana’ (Water Guardians: prevent today to care for ourselves tomorrow). The initiative aims to raise awareness regarding health risks associated with water emergencies, flooding, and drinking water contamination.

Developed under the Provincial Water Emergency Law No. 14.477, the project provides practical guidance to mitigate risks linked to the El Niño phenomenon. Recommendations include water purification methods, such as adding two drops of bleach per liter of water, and physical barriers like sand-filled bags to prevent water ingress into homes. Additionally, students emphasized hygiene practices, food handling, and maintaining up-to-date vaccination schedules to prevent disease during emergencies.
