Nurys Mateo discusses feuds and showmances on ‘The Challenge’

Nurys Mateo, a contestant on Season 42 of ‘The Challenge: Cutthroat’, has shared insights following her elimination from the competition. Mateo was eliminated after losing an arena battle against Anna Leigh Wilson.

In recent interviews, Mateo addressed several interpersonal conflicts from the season. She expressed frustration with ally Chris Underwood for not reaching out after her departure and criticized Sydney Segal, whom she labeled as “fake”. Additionally, she commented on the relationship between Johnny “Bananas” DeVenanzio and Alexis “Lete” Lete, suggesting their showmance was “fully for the cameras”.

Mateo also discussed her emotional state during filming, noting that she entered the season while recovering from a breakup with fellow alum Horacio Gutierrez. While she initially intended to avoid conflict and focus on making friends, she noted that the season's “Cutthroat” theme influenced the environment.
