NuScale Power and Oklo stocks decline amid rising Treasury yields
Nuclear energy stocks, including NuScale Power (SMR) and Oklo (OKLO), have experienced significant declines driven by rising Treasury yields. Following a higher-than-expected September inflation report, the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.26%, impacting pre-revenue companies sensitive to interest rate shifts.
NuScale Power shares reached their lowest close since May 2024, dropping approximately 15.1% over a recent week-long period. As of June 30, 2026, NuScale reported $1.9 billion in cash and investments with no debt, representing approximately 78% of its Monday closing price. Despite the cash position, the company reported minimal revenue for the second quarter of 2026.
Oklo shares fell 15.4% over the same period, hitting a 52-week low. Analysts have raised concerns regarding Oklo's financing, projecting the company may require $6.5 billion in additional cash before 2030. While Oklo held $3.0 billion in cash and marketable securities as of June 30, revenue is not expected to scale significantly until 2027.
