Nuseirat residents face humanitarian crisis amid ongoing conflict

In Nuseirat, Gaza, residents continue to navigate extreme humanitarian challenges amidst widespread destruction. Local fishermen utilize small boats at dusk to secure food for their families, maintaining the sea as a vital source of livelihood despite the conflict.

Children in the area continue to play soccer in open spaces, often amidst ruins and damaged buildings. According to a report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in October 2026, children in Gaza face significant psychosocial pressure, protection risks, and limited access to education and safe learning environments.

The humanitarian situation remains severe. OCHA reported that approximately 1.98 million people in Gaza require assistance with housing and basic supplies. The destruction of infrastructure, combined with a lack of repair materials and the threat of seasonal weather such as rain and flooding, has increased the difficulties for families living in temporary shelters.
