Nutanix launches MCP server for secure AI agent cloud management
Nutanix has announced the launch of an open source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP). This tool is designed to allow AI agents and developer tools to interact securely with hybrid multicloud environments.
By implementing the MCP specification, the server acts as a secure intermediary between AI assistants—such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor—and the Nutanix Prism v4 API. This enables users to translate natural language requests into specific infrastructure actions while automatically enforcing existing corporate security, access, and compliance policies.
The solution aims to empower IT teams to automate routine operations and build custom AI-driven workflows without losing visibility or control. Key security features include fine-grained role-based access control, throttling to prevent agent swarm attacks, and comprehensive auditing to track all agent-initiated actions.
