Nutracorp workers elect first works council in Elmshorn

Around 500 employees at Nutracorp, a producer of More Nutrition and ESN protein powders in Elmshorn, Germany, voted to establish the company's first works council on 24 June. After a three‑year legal battle that saw five lawsuits and several court rulings—most recently by the Federal Labour Court confirming the election committee—the vote succeeded with roughly 60 % participation. The newly elected council convened on 3 July.

The NGG union praised the outcome, with district chair Anne Widder stating, “We congratulate the newly elected works council wholeheartedly… despite massive attacks and obstructions by the employer, the employees organized and carried out the election successfully.” The union pledged continued support, urging Nutracorp and its parent The Quality Group to respect co‑determination principles.

A celebratory grill event was held by the works council and NGG on the plant grounds, attended by local labour groups.
