Nutraddizione concept introduced to support active longevity
The first ‘Vivi l’età’ report on active longevity introduces the concept of ‘Nutraddizione’ (nutraddition), a paradigm shift in healthy eating. Rather than focusing on dietary restrictions and subtractions, this approach emphasizes adding specific nutrients required by the body to manage physiological changes during different life stages.
Central to this concept is the role of proteins in maintaining muscle mass, which is vital for musculoskeletal support, overall organism function, and preserving independence and quality of life as people age. The report, curated by Ennio Tasciotti, director of the Human Longevity Program at Irccs San Raffaele in Rome, and promoted by Meritene, analyzes scientific evidence regarding nutrition, movement, and supplementation.
Tasciotti emphasizes that the goal is not to eat more indiscriminately, but to understand what the body needs and when. He notes that if nutritional practices cannot meet these needs, science and medicine offer alternatives, though such interventions should always be evaluated by a professional.
