Grupo Nutresa expands regional footprint through strategic acquisitions
Colombian food conglomerate Grupo Nutresa has reported strong third-quarter 2026 financial results, including a net profit of approximately $227.1 million. The company achieved total sales of 15.4 trillion pesos, driven largely by double-digit growth in the Colombian market.
As part of an aggressive regional expansion strategy led by Jaime Gilinski, Nutresa has completed several key acquisitions. The group has taken full control of Industrias Tío Rico C. A. in Venezuela, strengthening its ice cream business. In Ecuador, the company finalized the acquisition of La Universal, integrating iconic brands like Manicho and Cocoa La Universal into its chocolate division.
Additionally, Nutresa has secured the acquisition of the Presto restaurant chain in Colombia following regulatory approval from the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio. The move is intended to preserve the brand and protect approximately 700 jobs. The company also recently completed the purchase of the Mimo’s ice cream chain in Colombia.
