Nutrition and dietary health initiatives held in Chile and Argentina
In El Carmen, Chile, the seventh edition of the Communal Healthy School Recipe Contest was held at the Municipal Gymnasium. The initiative aimed to promote the consumption of natural and nutritious foods by involving students, teachers, and families in the preparation and tasting of creative recipes. Local authorities, including Mayor Renán Cabezas, attended the event. The Escuela Mata Redonda won first place with their dish, ‘Canastita de papas rellenas con ver’. DAEM Director María Valentina Ruiz emphasized that healthy eating is essential for improving student learning.
In Neuquén, Argentina, the first Expo Capital Sin Gluten attracted over 4,000 attendees at the Hilton Hotel. The event featured stands from local producers, entrepreneurs, and the municipal Gluten-Free Food Processing Room. The fair included educational talks on celiac disease, covering diagnosis, nutrition, and the prevention of cross-contamination. Secretary María Pasqualini noted that the expo supports the social economy and promotes Neuquén as an inclusive gastronomic destination by ensuring access to safe food and quality information.
