Nutrition expert warns against unsustainable single-type diets
Nutrition and Diet Expert Hülya Yiğit İspiroğlu from Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Hospital has warned against the dangers of single-type and short-term diets. She noted that while these methods may cause rapid weight loss on the scale, they are not sustainable or effective for long-term weight management.
İspiroğlu explained that initial weight drops often result from a reduction in water and glycogen stores rather than actual fat loss. She also cautioned against ‘detox’ programs, stating that the body’s liver, kidneys, and intestines already perform detoxification functions continuously. For healthy weight loss, she emphasizes the importance of developing sustainable eating habits and ensuring a balanced intake of all necessary nutrients rather than relying on restrictive, short-term regimens.
