Nutritional deficiencies and heat damage impact hair health

Hair health can be significantly impacted by nutritional deficiencies and external environmental factors. Dermatologist Donatella Petrocelli notes that changes in texture, thickness, color, or excessive hair loss may indicate a lack of essential nutrients such as vitamin D, biotin, zinc, and copper. To prevent these deficiencies, experts recommend a balanced diet including proteins, eggs, tuna, sardines, and poultry.

External damage also plays a critical role in hair appearance and strength. Excessive heat from styling tools—specifically temperatures exceeding 150°C to 230°C—can weaken the hair fiber and damage the keratin. Damage to the cuticle can lead to split ends, frizz, and a loss of natural shine. Additionally, prolonged stress and weather changes can contribute to hair fragility and texture issues.
