Nutritional guidance on sugarcane juice and fruit consumption

Nutritional guidance highlights the differences between various types of natural sugars and their impact on health. Sugarcane juice is noted for its high concentration of antioxidants, minerals like calcium, potassium, and iron, and vitamins A and C. It contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) which may assist with skin health and glycolic acid for cell renewal. Due to its electrolyte content, it can serve as a source of hydration and energy for physical activity.

Regarding blood sugar management, the consumption of whole fruit is distinguished from fruit juices due to fiber content, which slows carbohydrate absorption. The American Diabetes Association does not advise against fruit consumption for those with diabetes, though portion size and type are critical. Berries such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries are recommended due to their fiber content and relatively low carbohydrate levels. Kiwi is also considered a suitable option in moderation, whereas large smoothies or products with added sugars should be limited.
