Nutritional profile and benefits of figs

Figs are a seasonal fruit with a peak season running from July to November. According to the Federal Center for Nutrition (BZfE), darker skins generally indicate riper, sweeter fruit.

Nutritionally, fresh figs are low in fat and calories. Per 100 grams, they contain approximately 71 kcal, 0.5g of fat, 4.1g of dietary fiber, and 1.2g of protein. They are composed of about 80.2% water. Figs are particularly rich in potassium (230mg) and calcium (57mg), and also provide magnesium, iron, phosphorus, B-vitamins, vitamin K, and vitamins A and C.
