Nutritional studies and initiatives address eating habits and weight management

New initiatives and research are addressing nutritional habits and weight management. In Croatia, the Vrtim Zdravi Film initiative has introduced ‘NutriPorcija doručka’, an educational tool designed to help parents prepare balanced breakfasts for children. Developed with clinical nutritionist Dr. Darija Vranešić Bender, the tool translates international and national nutritional guidelines into a practical visual guide to combat the declining trend of breakfast consumption among students.

Separately, a study from Johns Hopkins University published in the journal Obesity suggests that time-restricted eating can aid weight loss without calorie reduction. The research found that participants consuming all meals within a 10-hour window saw a median weight loss of 2.7 percent, comparable to a control group eating over a 16-hour window. Lead author Daisy Duan noted that while participants improved eating habits, the study did not identify unique systemic health benefits beyond the weight loss itself.
