Nutritionist analyzes Mercadona cookie selection
Nutritionist and communicator Yeray Moreno has analyzed the cookie selection at the Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona to identify the healthiest options. Moreno warns consumers not to rely on packaging marketing, such as labels claiming to be integral or containing zero added sugar, and instead advises checking the ingredient list directly.
His evaluation criteria include the use of non-refined flours, the amount and origin of sugar, and the type of fat used. Moreno noted that some popular children's cookies contain approximately 34 grams of sugar per 100 grams and utilize a combination of palm and sunflower oils. He emphasizes that even the best-ranked cookies should be consumed in moderation, as there is no nutritional reason to treat them as an essential breakfast staple.
