Nutritionist offers five tips to prevent colds and flu

As colder weather increases the prevalence of coughs, colds, and viruses, nutritionist Nichola Ludlam-Raine has shared five key health recommendations. Research from the brand UNROOTED indicates that 16% of Britons identify workplace colleagues as the most likely source of infection, followed by partners (15%), children (9%), and public transport commuters (7%).

Ludlam-Raine emphasizes that while external exposure cannot be fully controlled, lifestyle habits can be managed. Her primary advice includes maintaining digestive health through a high-fiber diet to support the immune system, noting that baobab contains seven times more fiber than oats.

Additionally, she stresses the importance of prioritizing quality sleep—recommending seven to nine hours for adults—over expensive immune boosters. She also highlights the need for a balanced intake of Vitamin C, suggesting that most adults can meet their daily requirement of approximately 40 mg through a varied diet including peppers and broccoli.
