Health experts warn of breakfast habits linked to fatty liver and obesity

Medical experts are warning against poor breakfast habits that can lead to serious health issues, including fatty liver disease, obesity, and increased risks of cardiovascular disease or colorectal cancer.

Nutritionists and doctors advise that breakfasts should prioritize protein, fiber, and healthy fats—such as lean meats, Greek yogurt, vegetables, and avocados—to maintain satiety and stabilize blood sugar. Conversely, diets high in refined sugars, processed meats (like sausages and bacon), and refined carbohydrates (such as sweet bread or milk tea) can cause blood sugar spikes and promote fat storage in the liver.

Experts also caution against skipping breakfast or merging it with lunch, a practice sometimes used for intermittent fasting. While intended for weight loss, long-term skipping can lead to metabolic disorders, gallstones, acid reflux, and digestive issues. For those with chronic conditions like diabetes, maintaining stable meal times is critical for blood sugar management. Additionally, light physical activity after meals is recommended to help regulate insulin and blood sugar levels.
