Nutritionists advise on the benefits of consuming fruit peels

Nutrition experts suggest that consuming certain fruit peels can provide significant health benefits, as many skins contain higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants than the pulp.

Registered dietitian Malina Malkani notes that for some fruits, the peel is a primary source of nutrients. Specific examples of fruits recommended to be eaten with their skins include apples, pears, peaches, plums, grapes, berries, and kiwi. In these cases, the skin provides essential insoluble fiber and antioxidant compounds like quercetin.

However, experts such as Dr. Hillary Cecere advise against consuming peels that are excessively hard, bitter, or tasteless. While skins can be highly nutritious when washed thoroughly, they should be avoided if they are difficult to digest.
