Nutriversum Kft. faces investigation by Hungarian Competition Authority

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has launched an investigation into Nutriversum Kft. regarding its commercial communications for food and dietary supplements. The authority suspects the company may have misled consumers since February 2022.

The investigation focuses on several key allegations: the use of unsubstantiated health claims, the attribution of disease-preventing or curative properties to food products in violation of industry regulations, and the potential failure to register certain dietary supplements with the National Public Health and Pharmaceutical Center. The GVH is working to clarify whether the company’s marketing materials, such as claims regarding calcium pyruvate or traditional uses of bitter melon, comply with legal standards.

The initiation of this procedure does not constitute a finding of guilt; rather, it is intended to clarify the facts and prove the alleged violations. The investigation is scheduled to last three months, with the possibility of two extensions of up to two months each.
