Nuzran Joher appointed Chairman of Ombudsman RI for 2026-2031
The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has officially approved Nuzran Joher as the Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2026–2031 term. The decision was finalized during a Plenary Session in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following a proposal from Commission II.
Joher succeeds Hery Susanto, who was dishonorably dismissed by the Ombudsman's ethics council on June 8, 2026. Susanto's dismissal was linked to an alleged bribery case involving the management of nickel mining businesses during the 2021–2026 period.
Nuzran Joher, originally from Jambi, brings extensive political and legislative experience to the role. His previous positions include serving as a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for Jambi from 2004 to 2009 and holding two terms in the MPR RI Constitutional Study Commission.
