Nvidia and AMD next-gen GPU launches reportedly delayed to 2028

Reports from industry leaker Kepler_L2 suggest that major next-generation graphics card launches from Nvidia and AMD may be delayed until 2028. This includes Nvidia’s Rubin-based RTX 60 series and the majority of AMD’s RDNA 5 lineup.

The primary drivers for these potential delays include a shortage of GDDR7 and HBM memory, as well as increased competition for manufacturing capacity. TSMC’s production resources are reportedly being heavily diverted toward high-profit AI accelerators, which impacts the availability of consumer-grade gaming GPUs.

The only notable exception to this timeline is a single AMD GPU codenamed “AT2,” which is expected to launch in 2027. This RDNA 5-based chip is rumored to feature approximately 40 Compute Units and could target the upper-midrange market, potentially competing with Nvidia’s current GeForce RTX 5080.

While these claims remain unconfirmed by official company statements, they indicate a significant shift in the hardware lifecycle, moving away from the traditional two-year release cycle due to the economic and logistical pressures of the AI boom.
