Nvidia and Apple receive special status from Jim Cramer

Investment personality Jim Cramer has identified Nvidia and Apple as rare exceptions to his standard trading rules. While Cramer typically advocates for a ‘buy and homework’ philosophy—selling stocks as soon as their original investment thesis changes—he suggests that these two companies merit a status where investors should ‘own them, but not trade them.’

Cramer attributes this high level of confidence to the quality of management at both firms. Regarding Nvidia, he specifically cited CEO Jensen Huang’s ability to maintain a clear strategic vision during market volatility. He noted that in September 2022, during a period of significant stock pressure, Huang remained steadfast in his conviction regarding the long-term necessity of Nvidia chips for artificial intelligence, a prediction that preceded a major stock recovery.

Despite this special status, Cramer cautioned that this does not imply a ‘buy and hold’ approach without scrutiny. He emphasized that investors must still continuously monitor the valuations and fundamental business factors of both Nvidia and Apple, as market conditions and company circumstances are subject to change.
