NVIDIA and AWS expand AI infrastructure with 2 million additional GPUs
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and NVIDIA have announced a major expansion of their strategic collaboration to address surging global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. The companies plan to deploy 2 million additional NVIDIA GPUs across AWS’s global infrastructure during 2027-2028. This expansion includes integrating NVIDIA Vera CPU-based infrastructure, advanced networking, and co-engineered solutions for agentic AI, robotics, and physical AI.
In a related development in the AI hardware sector, Dell Technologies has delivered the world’s first NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale systems to the AI cloud provider CoreWeave. These racks, which feature 72 Rubin GPUs and 36 Vera CPUs, are designed to provide significantly higher token throughput per megawatt compared to previous platforms. CoreWeave has completed operational validation of the hardware, marking a milestone in the commercial deployment of high-performance AI inference machines.
