Nvidia and EBU partner on sovereign AI framework for European broadcasters

Nvidia and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have expanded their collaboration to develop a sovereign AI and hybrid cloud framework for European public service media. The initiative aims to provide broadcasters with technological autonomy, allowing them to adopt artificial intelligence while maintaining strict control over sensitive editorial data, infrastructure, and security.

The framework involves a network of cloud providers, open-model developers, and systems integrators. Microsoft will provide expertise in local processing through Azure Local and Foundry Local, while Nebius will offer European infrastructure for training and running models. Nvidia is contributing its GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, Holoscan for Media software, and DGX Cloud, alongside training via its Deep Learning Institute.

This partnership addresses the need for AI tools that align with European governance, data protection, and privacy standards. The EBU, which represents over 110 member organizations across more than 50 countries, intends to integrate these technologies into its Dynamic Media Facility and Media eXchange Layer architectures to support interoperability and efficient AI workflows.
