NVIDIA and Google tools advance local and offline AI deployment

Developers are utilizing new tools to facilitate the deployment of AI models in local, offline-first applications. NVIDIA has introduced ‘Do Inference Now (DIN) Deploy’, an open-source collection of C++ samples. This toolkit combines ONNX Runtime with the NVIDIA TensorRT RTX execution provider, allowing developers to transition from model checkpoints to hardware-accelerated applications on Windows and Linux.

Parallel to these technical implementations, institutional leaders are addressing the logistical challenges of offline AI distribution. Because running inference locally requires the model to be present on the device, the size of model packages significantly impacts program reach and affordability. For example, Google’s Gemma 4 E2B LiteRT-LM package is approximately 2.58GB. At an institutional scale, distributing such large files to thousands of devices creates substantial data requirements, necessitating strategies like Google Play’s feature and asset delivery systems to manage aggregate data loads.
