NVIDIA and Microsoft announce RTX Spark AI PCs and PAIR router

At IFA 2026, NVIDIA and Microsoft announced the launch of RTX Spark Windows PCs, scheduled for release in October. These new systems are designed for creators, gamers, and AI agents, featuring NVIDIA RTX Blackwell GPUs with 1 petaflop of power, up to 128 GB of unified memory, and 20-core Grace CPUs. Major manufacturers including Acer, Lenovo, and HP are participating in the rollout.

In addition to the hardware, NVIDIA introduced PAIR (Personal AI Router), an open-source local AI inference router. PAIR is designed to connect multiple devices within a local network—such as RTX PCs, workstations, and even Apple M4 Macs—to distribute AI inference tasks across available hardware based on GPU usage and model availability. This represents a shift from single-device scaling to horizontal scaling of local AI power.

Competitors are also exploring distributed local AI. AMD has demonstrated using multiple Ryzen AI Max+ 395 devices to form small distributed AI clusters. This industry trend suggests that future competition in local AI may focus on the ability to seamlessly integrate the collective computing power of multiple household or office devices rather than just the specifications of a single machine.
