Gears of War: E-Day sees mixed sales results amid high Game Pass engagement
Gears of War: E-Day has seen a complex commercial launch, characterized by low direct sales but high engagement through subscription services. According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, the title has sold approximately 230,000 copies across PC and Xbox platforms, with 168,000 units on Steam and 62,000 on the Xbox ecosystem.
However, the Xbox Game Pass subscription service has significantly influenced the game's reach and revenue. An estimated 1.7 million players accessed the game via Game Pass. While this may cannibalize traditional premium sales, a substantial portion of these subscribers opted for a $30 Premium Edition upgrade to gain early access, with roughly 722,000 users making this purchase.
Total estimated revenue for the title stands at approximately $37 million, with the majority of earnings generated through the Xbox ecosystem rather than Steam. Additionally, the game has become available on NVIDIA GeForce NOW, allowing players to stream the title via the cloud using high-end RTX technology on various compatible devices.
