Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang identifies cybersecurity as AI's next major application

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has identified cybersecurity as the next major commercial application for artificial intelligence. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs conference, Huang described cybersecurity as a natural extension of coding and bug finding, predicting it will become a massive market as companies utilize AI to continuously identify software vulnerabilities and defend against attacks.

Unlike prompt-based coding assistants, Huang noted that AI-powered cybersecurity systems are expected to run continuously, creating a recurring revenue model for the industry. To support this shift, Nvidia has established strategic partnerships with companies including CrowdStrike, Cisco, and Palantir to develop AI-driven security tools.

In addition to the focus on cybersecurity, Huang expressed confidence in Nvidia’s growth trajectory, projecting a 70% year-over-year revenue increase for fiscal year 2027 driven by persistent demand for AI compute infrastructure. Other industry leaders, such as OpenAI's CFO Sarah Friar, also identified the sector as a significant commercial opportunity.
