Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang predicts AI boom will drive demand for skilled trades

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has highlighted that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence will drive significant demand for skilled manual labor and infrastructure specialists. During a discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos with Larry Fink, Huang described the current AI era as a massive deployment of infrastructure, including data centers, semiconductor plants, and energy systems.

While automation is often viewed as a threat to employment, Huang noted that certain professions remain essential to support this technological growth. He emphasized that the development of AI requires physical assets such as land, energy, and specialized installations. Consequently, there will be a high demand for electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and construction workers.

Projections suggest that investments in this sector could reach up to seven trillion dollars by 2030, with growth continuing through 2035. Huang indicated that these roles, which require technical expertise and certifications rather than computer science degrees, could offer high wages as the industry seeks to maintain the necessary power lines, transformers, and cooling systems.
