U.S. Naval Postgraduate School receives Nvidia AI supercomputer

Nvidia donated its DGX GB300 “Grace Blackwell” AI supercomputer to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Foundation, marking the first direct use of the company’s most advanced AI servers by the U.S. military. The system was installed on the Monterey, California campus and unveiled in a ceremony attended by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of U.S. Pacific Command.

The rack‑scale machine will give roughly 1,500 resident students and 600 faculty on‑premises access to large‑scale AI computing for research and education. Planned applications include weather prediction, cybersecurity, ocean and operations modeling, and disaster‑resilience planning. Huang said, “AI will be a backbone of America’s defense,” while Paparo stressed that modernizing technology must be matched by modernizing leader education. The donation comes amid a broader U.S.–China race to embed AI in military systems.
