Nvidia invests $1 billion in Naver, expands Korean AI factory to 200 MW by 2028 FAST-MOVING

Nvidia announced a strategic investment of about $1 billion in South Korean internet firm Naver Corp., acquiring roughly a 4.5% equity stake. The funding is part of a larger $10 billion financing package that also includes a non‑binding term sheet from Brookfield to provide up to $9 billion. Together, the partners will expand the NVIDIA DSX AI‑factory at Naver’s GAK Sejong hyperscale data centre from the initial 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028, with a longer‑term target of a sovereign AI capacity of 1 gigawatt.

The expanded facility will use NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin and Blackwell platforms and is intended to serve AI innovators in Korea and the United States. Following the announcement, Naver’s shares rose roughly 10% in early trading, reflecting investor optimism about the capital injection and the accompanying plan to retire a portion of the company’s own shares. The deal was highlighted during the AI Summit in San Francisco attended by Korean President Jae‑Myung Lee.

Nvidia’s investment marks a deepening of its partnership with Naver, turning the chip maker into one of Naver’s top three shareholders and anchoring a national AI‑infrastructure push that could position South Korea as a global AI‑compute hub.
