NVIDIA expands AI infrastructure footprint in Morocco and Egypt
NVIDIA is expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure footprint across North Africa through major initiatives in Morocco and Egypt.
In Morocco, a multi-partner project involving the Ministry of Digital Transition and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development aims to establish a Nexus AI Factory near Casablanca. The project has a total budget of $1.2 billion and targets a capacity of 500 megawatts. This facility is expected to utilize Blackwell processors and will be powered by renewable energy from TAQA Morocco. Additionally, Cassava Technologies, NVIDIA’s first cloud partner in Africa, plans to expand its compute capacity into Morocco.
In Egypt, NVIDIA is entering a memorandum of understanding to establish the country as a regional AI hub. The collaboration will focus on digital skill development, startup innovation, and research and development. NVIDIA will provide technology for Egypt’s first sovereign AI-powered data center. The Egyptian Data Center (ADC) plans to launch facilities with an initial capacity of 20 megawatts, with long-term goals to reach 200 megawatts. This initiative is part of a broader effort to attract approximately $200 million in foreign direct investment within a $1 billion total framework.
