Nvidia drives AI financing, stock growth and predicts construction job boom

Nvidia's shares closed around $197 in late July, having risen roughly 885 % over the past five years; a £9,999 investment in the stock would be worth about £98,490 by August 2027. The company launched its Blackwell AI platform in March 2024, bundling GPUs, CPUs, networking and storage, prompting Wall Street to lift its 12‑month earnings outlook by about 21 % after the February fiscal‑fourth‑quarter results. Nvidia is also acting as a financier for its ecosystem, arranging credit for an OpenAI data‑centre lease in Ohio and investing in firms such as CoreWeave that in turn buy its chips, a practice that has drawn criticism for creating a circular financing loop and raising insurance costs. Bloomberg reported that Chinese AI firm Moonshot obtained Blackwell GB300 processors via Thailand, sparking export‑control concerns. CEO Jensen Huang told the World Economic Forum that the AI infrastructure build‑out could involve $7 trillion of global spending by 2030 and generate hundreds of thousands of high‑paying construction and trade jobs, with the United States alone needing over 130 000 electricians and 240 000 construction labourers to meet demand.
