NVIDIA unveils RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation GPU with 84GB memory

NVIDIA has announced the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell Workstation Edition, a new professional GPU designed for AI development, simulation, and heavy rendering workloads. Built on the Blackwell architecture using the GB202 GPU, the card features 21,760 CUDA cores, matching the core count of the consumer-grade GeForce RTX 5090.

A primary differentiator is its massive 84GB of GDDR7 memory, which is significantly higher than the 32GB found on the RTX 5090. This high capacity, supported by Error-Correcting Code (ECC), is intended to facilitate large-scale AI model inference and complex datasets. The card utilizes a 416-bit memory bus, providing a bandwidth of approximately 1,398 GB/s.

The RTX PRO 5500 supports Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) technology, allowing the hardware to be partitioned into two independent 42GB instances. It is designed for rack-mounted deployments and will be available in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled configurations. While technical specifications are confirmed, NVIDIA has not yet released official pricing or a specific availability date.
