Nvidia explores potential deal with South Korean chipmaker Rebellions
Nvidia is in early-stage discussions with South Korean AI chip designer Rebellions regarding a potential strategic alliance, investment, or outright acquisition. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently met with Rebellions co-founder and CEO Sunghyun Park at Nvidia’s Silicon Valley headquarters to explore these possibilities.
Rebellions, which specializes in neural processing units (NPUs) for AI inference in data centers, is valued at approximately $2.3 billion. The company has raised roughly $850 million from investors including SK Hynix, Samsung Ventures, and Arm Holdings. The South Korean government also maintains a financial stake in the startup.
Any finalized transaction would likely face significant regulatory scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice and authorities in South Korea.
